Thus, the deputy governor of the BNB Andrey Gyurov shamed the leader of “We continue the change” Kiril Petkov, who stated today that Gyurov was ready to become acting prime minister. Thus, Petkov asked to refute the President Rumen Radev and the candidate for acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev. Radev stated that no one other than Glavchev had shouldered the duty to form an official government.

We know that Andrey Gyurov, if he was elected, would not refuse, and not because he wanted to, but because he would see it as a responsibility to the Constitution and to Bulgaria, Kiril Petkov said. But Gyurov refuted it.

“As deputy governor of the BNB and head of the Issuance Department, I am directly involved in the strategic task of Bulgaria’s accession to the Eurozone. Moreover, at the moment both the Law on the BNB and the rules of the European Central Bank do not allow the reconciliation of professional and political positions” , Andrey Gyurov added.

Gyurov emphasized that the Central Bank is an independent institution, and as its representative, he firmly believes that it is not a good idea for it to get involved in the political process, and for the names of its leaders to be involved in political discussions.
“The details of the conversation between me and the president are not public and I have not commented on them. The only position that I can share at the moment is that I did not give consent for an acting prime minister,” said the deputy governor of the BNB.
