Andrew Tate was arrested again in Romania – 2024-03-13 08:12:48

In the hands of the Romanian authorities with a British arrest warrant is Mr Andrew Tate, as announced today by his public relations representative and the Bucharest Court of Appeal is expected to decide on his extradition. Tate gained millions of followers by promoting a lifestyle of constant misogynistic and sexist references through social media.

Tate and his brother Tristan were arrested Monday night on sexual assault charges spanning 2012-15. “Brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate were forcibly arrested and held for 24 hours, served with a European Arrest Warrant by UK authorities. Among the charges, which concern the period 2012-2015, sexual assault is also included”his publicist Andrew Tate said in a statement.

“The Court of Appeal of Bucharest is expected today to take the decisive decision on whether to execute the warrant”, it is noted. The court has not yet decided when it will convene to decide on the warrant and was not immediately available for comment.

In June, he was charged with human trafficking, rape and forming a criminal organization to sexually exploit women, with the Tate brothers denying the charges.

Since then, the case has been taken over by the Court of First Instance of Bucharest, which must decide whether the trial can begin. No decision has yet been taken due to the workload of the Romanian courts. The Bucharest Court is also due to decide on Friday whether to uphold the seizure of Tate’s assets imposed by Romanian prosecutors in early 2023.

The Tate brothers were placed in police custody until the end of the criminal investigation from late December 2022 until April to prevent them from fleeing the country or tampering with evidence. They have been placed under house arrest until August, while also being under judicial supervision – a milder preventive measure that means they report to the police regularly but can move freely, but not leave the country.
