Andrew Onan arrived late so he couldn’t defend himself Cameroon National Team Of Africa Cup of Nations. Kiper Manchester United that is considered disrespectful.
Onana was late to defend Cameroon in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. The Indomitable Lions are scheduled to play Guinea on Monday (15/1/2024).
Onana arrived late, because less than 24 hours earlier he had defended MU first. He appeared in full when the Red Devils matched Tottenham Hotspur 2-2 in the Premier League.
Onana flew to Ivory Coast from England by private plane, but was late disembarking. Bad weather meant that the plane had to disembark in the city where the match was taking place, and had to continue the journey overland by car.
As a result, Onana arrived too late in the match, and Cameroon did not play against Guinea. The match itself ended in a 1-1 draw, Cameroon failed to win in their first match at the 2023 African Cup of Nations.
Andrew Onan then criticized by Emmanuel Adebayor. The former Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid striker from Togo said Onana had no respect for his country.
“Yes [Onana] disrespect for Cameroon. I was a player like him, and even the most important player in my national team, but I never acted like this [tiba pada hari pertandingan],” Adebayor told Sport News Africa.
“The fact that this situation occurred shows that there is a problem, perhaps even within the federation. He risks a big defeat, because he has alienated the Cameroonian fans, as well as many African fans, and of course some team members,” he denounced.
Onana himself has spoken out about being late. He did not want to explain at length, by allowing himself to be criticized.
“I have a lot to say, but I won’t say it because we are performing in a competition. Just let me continue to be criticized, I’m used to it,” Onana told Canal Plus.
“I’m doing what’s good for my country. It’s like choosing between my father or my mother, but my country comes first, that’s why I’m here. We’re together. We’re here to win. [turnamen ini],” say Andrew Onan.
