Andrew Garfield has shared a remarkable anecdote about the filming of the film We Live in Time. For example, a sex scene with Florence Pugh would be very steamy and extra long. “We went further than we had to because we had the cut not heard.”
From movie We Live in Time starring Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh, hits theaters in the United States later this week. In an interview for the podcast Happy Sad Confused told Andrew Garfield about a sex scene that went slightly out of hand.
Extra long sex scene
In the podcast, the actor talked about the recording of a sex scene. “It was the first take of a very intimate and passionate sex scene,” says Garfield. “It was about one closed setwhich means it was just Florence and I in the room, along with a cameraman, a lovely man named Steward.”
“The scene was very passionate and we performed the choreography and we were on a roll. We also went a little further than planned because we hadn’t heard the cut and it all felt very safe. So we thought, ‘Okay, we’ll just move on to the next thing and the next thing and just carry on’.” But after a while the two noticed “telepathically at the same time” that it was taking a little longer than planned. “I looked up and I saw Steward standing in the corner, with the camera next to him but pointed at the wall.” So the two were too loud in the moment to hear the cut.
We Live in Time premiered last month at the Toronto Film Festival and will be released in theaters in the United States later this month. The film will also be shown in our theaters early next year.
