Andrew Cuomo, the favorite to replace Adams as mayor of NY if he resigns: survey – El Diario NY

Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is the favorite to replace Eric Adams as mayor of New York if he were to leave office, according to a recent poll by Slingshot Strategies.

The surveymade to voters in New York City, revealed that Cuomo would win with 22% of the vote in a nonpartisan special election. The second place preference went to the public defender Jumaane Williams, with 15% and in third place Kathryn García, with 12%.

However, the majority, 35%, said they were undecided about who they would prefer if Adams left the city mayor.

One of the important data left by the survey was that Mayor Adams has low popularity, with an approval rating of just 36% and an unfavorable rating of 58%.

This low acceptance of Adams occurs in the midst of the immigration crisis, crime and the recent lawsuit he received for sexual assault in 1993.

However, paradoxically, Cuomo, who resigned as governor of New York amid accusations of sexual misconduct, has a higher percentage of good acceptance than bad: While 46% of NY voters said they have a favorable opinion, 42% said they have an unfavorable opinion.

The Slingshot Strategies survey was conducted among 600 New York voters between December 1 and 4. It has a margin of error of approximately 4 percentage points.
