Andrew Cuomo Sues New York Ethics Commission | Univision 41 New York WXTV

This Friday the former governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, filed a lawsuit against the state ethics commission, accusing it of “extraordinary bias” against him, since he seeks to retain the profits from his book contract. 5.1 million dollars.

In November, the Joint Commission on Public Ethics voted to rescind its decision that allowed Cuomo to write the book “American Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic,” arguing that state resources were used to write it, and that it contained “serial omissions” and misrepresentations” on New York’s pandemic response.

Judith Mogul, a lawyer in Cuomo’s office at the time, approved of Cuomo writing the book in his spare time, as well as using government aides to write the book, as long as they didn’t do it during their work hours to the governorship.

He is accused of abusing state resources for the book

But a year later, the book sparked controversy, when Cuomo was embroiled in a series of accusations of sexual harassment and misconduct for a government official, and was accused of using cabinet resources to prepare the book.

Cuomo and his legal team have categorically denied any wrongdoing.

In recent weeks, Cuomo has been trying to get back into the political arena, running ads claiming he had been cleared of sexual harassment allegations against him by several women. All this after five district attorneys across the state failed to file charges against the 64-year-old politician, citing a lack of evidence.

However, in January, Oswego County District Attorney Gregory Oakes clarified: “In no way should this be a positive reflection on Andrew Cuomo. This decision is not an exoneration.”
