Just over a year ago, former professional rugby player Andrew Conway announced his retirement, marking a significant transition for him and his family. Now, the Conway clan is gearing up for another exciting chapter: a move back to Dublin.
Andrew, his wife Liz, and their two children, Caelan and Hailey, have called Castletroy home as 2013 when Andrew, then just 21, relocated to Limerick to pursue his rugby career. Liz later joined him, a decision andrew credits as instrumental to his success on the field.
“It took me a full year to find myself and grow up” when he moved away from home, Andrew admitted in an interview with the Irish Independent. “And once I did that, those experiences actually really stood to me. If it doesn’t break you, hopefully it makes you in many ways.”
Reflecting on life after rugby, Andrew shared, “There [are] so many other things going on in my life with the kids, planning to move back to dublin… I’m excited about the next stage of what I’m going to do professionally for the next medium term, or 10-15 years.”
The move back to Dublin signifies a new beginning for the conway family, allowing them to be closer to extended family and friends while Andrew embarks on the next phase of his career.
Former Munster and Ireland rugby star Andrew Conway is embracing a whirlwind of change as he embarks on a new chapter in his life. After a triumphant rugby career, Conway has relocated back to Dublin with his family, traded his jersey for a laptop, and welcomed a new baby into the world.
“It’s been a pretty crazy year,” Conway admitted. “Moving back to Dublin, starting a PhD, and having a new baby – it’s definitely kept us busy!”
Conway’s move back to the capital coincides with his pursuit of a PhD in human performance and innovation at the University of Limerick. This academic endeavor reflects his desire to explore new horizons beyond the rugby field and contribute to a field that aligns with his passions.
Adding to the excitement, Conway and his partner recently welcomed their second child, an eight-month-old baby, into their growing family. Juggling the demands of parenthood, academia, and a burgeoning business venture is no small feat, but Conway seems to be taking it all in stride.
“I’m really excited about what the future holds,” Conway shared. “I’m looking forward to launching my new business in the New Year and continuing to learn and grow in my academic pursuits.”
