With less than 14 days left in the Major League Baseball regular season, some teams that had started off with a bang are beginning to say goodbye to their playoff chances, one of them being the Seattle Mariners, although for their reliever, Mexican Andrés Muñoz, as long as there is hope, they will continue to fight.
Muñoz has battled injuries this season and his performance is a reflection of the Mariners’ season, which after a promising start has fallen off since the All-Star break. With a 2-6 record and a 2.14 ERA, Muñoz has 21 saves for the Seattle team.

“It’s been a tough second half of the week, but like everything, you never know what can happen. We’ve brought our energy here and tried to do our best over the last two weeks and the last few games. We have the opportunity and we hope things work out for us,” said the pitcher born in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico.
The Mariners, at 75-73, are three and a half games out of an AL wild-card spot but also 3.5 games behind the first-place Houston Astros in their AL West division.
On a personal level, Andrés Muñoz, 25, has battled a back injury, which he says will see more of a recovery once he has finished his participation with the Mariners in 2024.
«Every year has been a little bit difficult in terms of injuries, I have tried to take care of myself as much as possible, I had, in the first two months of the season, a back injury, we continue pitching like that, with the discomfort and the pain, but it is part of this, one has to force one’s body a little bit to give one’s best, although it is not the smartest thing to do, many times the desire to help the team wins over, I think we have done that, we are not perfect, we have failed a few times and the truth is the only thing we can do is continue working so that the same thing does not happen again,» commented the pitcher who has reached speeds of 100 miles per hour at some points in his career.
