Andres Iniesta’s Potential Move to Inter Miami Hindered by MLS Rules

Bola.net – Andres Iniesta could join Inter Miami in the summer of 2023. However, there is one obstacle in the form of the rules in Major League Soccer itself.

Iniesta is currently without a club. This 39-year-old player just ended his contract with Vissel Kobe six months earlier than he should have.

And in the midst of searching for a new club, Iniesta is widely rumored to be reuniting with his former Barcelona colleagues who are now at Inter Miami.

So far, Inter Miami has only formalized Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets. Jordi Alba is reported to be joining forces in the near future.

Obstructed by Rules

Inter Miami officially introduces Lionel Messi (c) Inter Miami Official

The report believes Miami has never made an offer to Iniesta for one reason, related to the existing rules.

In MLS, there are rules regarding Deserted Players, namely players who are allowed to be paid more than the maximum salary budget of a club.

Each club is allowed to have three Reserved Players. And the Deserted Player slot in Miami is full after being filled by Messi, Busquets and Josef Martinez.
