The presentation was made by himself Andres Baiz and the actor Alejandro Speitzer. In the treacherous desert along the Colombia-Venezuela border, gasoline smugglers known as “pimpineros” risk their lives transporting illegal fuel across the harsh landscape.

Baiz explained that the origin of the film comes from a trip to Colombia in which he saw a caravan of trucks dedicated to trafficking gasoline from Venezuela.

The adrenaline that this job caused him was what led him to immediately work on the script for the film: “I loved that dangerous job that was the genesis of the story.” During the presentation Alejandro Speitzer expressed the enormous gratitude he felt towards Andrés Baiz.

“He gave me the character I love the most, some of the most beautiful months throughout my career and my personal life.” He also highlighted that this film is an example of the gigantic progress that Latin American cinema is currently making.

Both personalities highlighted empathy as an important value within the film. Finally, Baiz mentioned that for him the film talks about borders, not only physical, but ethical and moral: “we have to feel empathy for those who we feel are foreign, when in reality they are not,” he concluded.
