Andreas Wingerli leaves Skellefteå for NHL games

Andreas Wingerli, originally from Skellefteå, was part of the Sweden World Cup team. That he risked leaving Skellefteå has been included in the club’s calculation all along. Now that’s a fact.

– Of course sad for us in Skellefteå AIK but at the same time Andreas has done a good job here for a long time. He has taken steps for each season and shown in the World Cup that he also maintains that level, says Erik Forssell.

Andreas Wingerli leaves for the NHL

The new club in the NHL is not yet known.

Since Wingerli is undefeated, any of the 32 clubs in the NHL can sign a contract with the 23-year-old.

It’s probably only a matter of time before it becomes official which club it’s about.

– I would never have been there today without Skellefteå AIK and the fans so I have everything to thank for. Hopefully I have not made my last match in the black and yellow jersey, says Wingerli in a comment to Skellefteå’s website.

For Skellefteå, it will be a tough battle to lose another younger player, to a better league. Arvid Söderblom, Philip Broberg and Jonatan Berggren have previously joined the NHL. Jesper Frödén is expected to do the same, and Pär Lindholm has used his clause to play in the KHL.

Now Andreas Wingerli, who accounted for 28 points at the club last season, is also leaving.
