Andrea Pontremoli is the new President of the ASPHI Onlus Foundation

Andrea Pontremoli has been appointed President of the ASPHI Onlus Foundation, an organization that has been dealing with digital technologies for disabilities for almost 45 years. Having become vice-president in 2018, Pontremoli was appointed by the ASPHI Board of Directors to the top role, taking over from Franco Bernardi, who leaves the position after twenty-five years of service to the Foundation.

Since 2007, Pontremoli has been CEO and General Manager of Dallara Automobili, a historic company from Varano de’ Melegari (PR), which designs and produces racing cars, single-seaters and non-single-seaters, involved in the most important sporting events. Previously, he completed a decades-long career at IBM Italia, of which he was also President and CEO.

Technology is a tool for social innovation. For this reason, the ASPHI Onlus Foundation has an increasingly important role as a promoter of an accessible and inclusive culture of innovation for the most fragile subjects, highlighting the contribution that people with disabilities can make. By carrying forward the mission of ASPHI we can contribute to the development of an inclusive social system, involving companies, institutions, associations, social and health services and the world of schools”, commented Andrea Pontremoli, President of the ASPHI Onlus Foundation.

“On this occasion I want to thank Cav. Franco Bernardi, who was president of ASPHI for 25 years, thanks to him the Foundation has become a reference for the world of disability in Italy and my task will be to continue in this direction together with the splendid collaborators of ASPHI”, he added.

ASPHI Onlus Foundation was born in 1979 from an idea of Giovanni Zanichelli, an IBM manager, for the inclusion of young blind people in the world of work as computer programmers. Today the Foundation is exploring new frontiers in the use of technology to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities, ranging from sensory and motor disabilities, to psychic and mental ones, to the loss of autonomy and abilities caused by aging.

The commitment to an inclusive society will soon experience an important moment of sharing with the community: from 28 to 30 November, at the Aldini Valeriani Institute in Bologna, the ASPHI Onlus Foundation will curate the thirteenth edition of Handimatica, a national exhibition-conference dedicated to technologies accessible digital.
