Andrea Bocelli and his wife Veronica Berti Bocelli recently undertook a 300-kilometer journey from Rome to the hometown of the Italian singer Lajatico by horse alone. The journey will be shown in their new film, which tells about the incredible love experience of the two after almost 22 years of marriage.
The Journey: A Musical Episode sees the musician and his wife travel through the breathtakingly beautiful landscapes of their native country, stopping at spiritual sites along the way to perform alongside special guests including Michael Smith, TAYA, Tauren Wells, 2Cellos and Tori Kelly.
“Right after the pandemic, what Andrea really wanted was to just ride the horse and not stop until they were both tired,” Veronica, 39, told People magazine. She notes that despite living in Italy all her life, she hasn’t seen many of the places she visits during the film. According to her, many people are like her and travel all over the world, but do not see what is in their home country and do not appreciate the beauty that is around them.
64-year-old Bocelli is an avid rider, but Veronica has not ridden since she was a child, so the performer can only be glad that she agrees to accompany him on this long journey. He shared that he was impressed by her tenacity and courage to get back on the horse and ride for days. In his words, it showed him that there’s always a way if there’s a will, and that the woman next to him has tremendous willpower.
During the journey, Andrea learns important life lessons not only from the people she meets, but also from the horses. “What made me really happy was to see how much interest there is in a spiritual journey. Maybe this is something that each of us should do,” the musician also says.
