One month after his resignation, the outgoing Juventus president, Andrea Agnelli, again proclaimed his innocence and that of the club on Tuesday during a meeting in Turin with club members. A meeting which was to approve the results of the Old Lady for the financial year ended in June, which revealed a loss of 238 million euros. “I am firmly convinced that I have acted correctly in recent years and that the accusations against us were unfounded”launched Agnelli.
Juve is under scrutiny by prosecutors and the Italian market watchdog for false financial statements, which led to its board resigning last month. According to him, Agnelli resigned to avoid people thinking that his personal situation affects the club’s decisions. The prosecutors called the former Juve president, eleven other people and the club itself to trial.
New Board of Directors on January 18th
Exor, the holding company of the Agnelli family and controlling shareholder of Juventus, presented on Monday the list for the club’s new board of directors, who will be appointed at the shareholders’ meeting scheduled for 18 January. The chartered accountant Gianluca Ferrero is part of it for the office of president and Maurizio Scanavino for that of managing director. Scanavino is the CEO of publisher GEDI, also controlled by Exor, and was recently appointed CEO of Juventus.
The new board, made up of accounting, auditing and law professionals, will have just five members, up from ten previously.
