entertainment">In the series, which was shown between 1988 and 2018, Van Duin provided animal videos with voices. They were episodes that lasted a few minutes at most. The last new episodes were shown in 2018, as the end of the program Time for MAX.
entertainment">“We used to play those films ourselves in the zoo,” says Van Duin. “But that is no longer allowed: zoos do not want the animals to be made fun of. And yes, of course you do that a bit by providing them with a voice.” The comedian is now investigating whether he can use archive images from, for example, BBC or YouTube videos. “But there are rights to all that material and the question is whether it is affordable. It used to be really easier to make these kinds of videos.”
Thick for each other show
entertainment">Also plans to release a new series of episodes of the iconic Thick for each other show to make, together with his artistic partner Ferry de Groot, has been canceled for the time being. “We have turned the old shows into a podcast, which have already been listened to more than 2 million times,” Van Duin told presenter Özcan Akyol.
entertainment">Still, Van Duin doubts whether the chaotic parody of a radio show would still work. “It was a time, when there were three radio stations. Now there are so many radio stations where they all make jokes like this. Maybe Dik Voormekaar is a bit outdated.”
entertainment">It is also still uncertain whether the comedian will return in the third part of Hendrik Groen, which is now being prepared by Omroep Max. “Evert, who I played, is of course no longer there. But the plan now is for Hendrik Groen to suffer from dementia and so see me again in his dreams. Maybe I’ll do it, if it’s not running for too many days.”
