André-Pierre Gignac started the closing Mexican league in spectacular fashion on Sunday night, during a victorious away match (3-0) with his club Tigres UANL at Santos Laguna. The French striker scored his side’s second goal and gave team-mate Luis Enrique Quinones the third in a game in which the club’s other Frenchman, Florian Thauvin, was an unused substitute.
176 goals since 2015
At the end of this first day, the Tigers occupy the position of leader of the table with the advantage of goal difference. An excellent start for a club that had only finished fifth in the last Opening Championship, which ended at the end of October 2022 with a coronation from America Mexico.
Joining Tigres in the summer of 2015, André-Pierre Gignac scored a total of 155 goals in the Mexican league, and 176 in official matches for the Monterrey club.
