André Jardine is clear that Julián Quiñones is today one of the best players in Mexican football, thanks to his unique qualities that even led him to compare him with a couple of Brazilian national teams.
What did Jardine de Quiñones say?
In an interview with TUDN, the América strategist recalled the work he did with Gustavo Leal – today a strategist at Atlético de San Luis – and in doing so he recalled the playing style of Richarlison and Matheus Cunha, today figures of Tottenham and Wolverhampton, respectively. along with those who achieved Gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
In doing so, he was encouraged to make a comparison of the Spurs player with Quiñones, today one of his strong cards in the Águilas, and one of the ones who gives the most variants to the attack.
“From when he was in Brazil, Quiñones looks like Matheus Cunha or Richarlison,” he said, while analyzing his América, today leader of the Apertura 2023 thanks to its powerful arsenal complemented by Henry Martín and Jonathan Rodríguez up front.
“Henry is more of an area player who associates very well, he is a very supportive nine because he also looks for assists a lot, in this last game his 2 assists were impressive,” he added.
Regarding Cabecita Rodríguez, he knows that he can use it especially in those moments when he needs more explosiveness up front.
“Now with Jona (Cabecita) it is playing with 3 forwards, I did not imagine at some point playing with 3 forwards and we already did it in the game against Santos and very good things were done, but here is the coach’s job to accommodate well the parts”.
