André Hazes has a problem. The singer, who will perform for the ninth time in Ahoy on November 25, will not be able to fill the approximately 16,000 available places in the Rotterdam pop temple. Although producer MediaLane states that it is satisfied with ticket sales ‘for the field and the first ring’, a tour of insiders in the music industry shows that the reality is very different. Hazes needs tricks to sell tickets.
The singer uses sites such asactievandedag.nl,kortingspret.nl andvakantieveilingen.nl to sell admission tickets at dumping prices. “Every ticket sold through ‘Holiday Auctions’ is an emergency intervention,” says a very experienced concert organizer. “The Toppers have been selling tickets for the second ring for years, but it is common knowledge about them,” says another organizer, who also has many years of experience. “For an artist like André Hazes, who could easily fill the Ahoy in the past, this is exceptional. You see this happen more often, but with starting or retired artists.”

Producer MediaLane is responsible for the show in Ahoy. The company will initially only answer questions by email, but after submitting the questions it will stick to a general statement: “We are satisfied with the ticket sales for the field and the first ring. To optimize the second ring we use ‘Holiday Auctions’, this only concerns the second ring and only a limited number of tickets. This is something that is common in the entertainment world to sell the last tickets.”
The concert organizers are curious how the producer will limit the damage. “This will be a loss anyway,” says one of them.
