MusicThe three times sold-out ‘Evening of your life’ in the Lotto Arena will be concerts without André Hazes (27). The Dutch singer is in treatment for a burnout and is canceling his shows in November. Although senior and junior will resound from the throats of many colleagues. “We understand the disappointment, but with ‘Flanders sings Hazes’ we still want to make it one big party”, it sounds.

André Hazes been struggling with herself for a while and that now also has consequences for his planned performances in the Lotto Arena in Antwerp. The popular Dutchman announces that his concerts on November 10, 11 and 13 will be given a different interpretation. “At the moment André is being treated for his burnout”, his manager Sjoerd Bodewes said. “That takes time, but he is in good hands with his therapists.” The concerts in the Lotto Arena will therefore be replaced by ‘Flanders sings Hazes’. A concert series existing at our northern neighbors – good for dozens of evenings in a sold-out Amsterdam Ziggo Dome – in which the repertoire of André Hazes (senior and junior) is performed by a number of top artists. In the Lotto Arena, during ‘Vlaanderen zingt Hazes’, Jeroen van der Boom, Christoff, Metejoor, Pommelien Thijs, Xander de Buisonjé, Thomas Berge and Berget Lewis will perform their versions of ‘Blood, sweat and tears’, ‘She believes in me ‘ and ‘Little boy’. “In any case, it will be one big Hazes evening”, the organization says.

Troubled period
The news is not entirely unexpected. In September it became known that the ‘Leef’ singer – just like his girlfriend Sarah van Soelen (25) – is going through a difficult period mentally. Complaints due to the ‘troubled period’ that Hazes went through in recent months. “The lack of performances and the uncertainty caused by the pandemic, coupled with developments in his private life, have had a major impact,” said manager Sjoerd Bodewes. “In addition, the concerts in question had been on the agenda for almost two years, but were postponed due to corona.”

The fact that André is dropping out just now will also surprise everyone who saw him at work in our country this summer. André ruled the Proximus Pop-Up Arena in Middelkerke with his ‘AH band’, but already indicated to be weighed down by the news about his person. Especially when his son Dré (4) was also involved. “This week I read that I was not allowed to see him anymore, while he was in my arms at the time,” it sounded, among other things. Worries that faded with the opening notes of his set. “I’m so happy to be here that I almost get a kick out of it,” it sounded with a mischievous grin.

lovesick
During a subsequent visit to our country, in August at BuikRock in Deerlijk, the Dutch artist even made words superfluous. While there was a storm of reports in his homeland about grotesque quarrels with girlfriend Sarah, the couple appeared together in the backstage. Passionately in love, and after some insistence also likes to pose for the photographers.

In November André will not be there at his own party. “We understand the disappointment of the fans, but with ‘Flanders sings Hazes’ we hope to offer all people who have already had so much patience a great alternative”, organizer Patricia Khemili concludes.
