André Hazes about hit Live: ‘My father had not understood’

In de podcast Barts Classic Track from NPO Radio 2 DJ Bart Arens (42), Dré discusses how the hit came about. The song was written during a writer’s camp that included Diggy Dex and Thomas Berge. They realized early on that the song had potential, but André himself did not believe in it that much. With considerable reluctance he finally decided to sing the record, after which his team put the finishing touches and André saw it again. And a good thing, because ‘Live’ meant his big break in the charts.

Although the song has been played gray in the Netherlands for years, André thinks that his late father did not understand. “The message is really Hazes that you want to convey, but the song itself … It was of course a very strange song when it came out, but especially for a man who sang the way he did … my father hadn’t understood it . “

He does think that his dad would have been proud of him: “Because of course it is a whopper of a record. Only it would have been so different for him.”

Now that the bond between André and sister Roxeanne has been restored, the two do not rule out a duet. You can see everything about this in the video below.
