André grateful for social control of friends after Martin’s death

Yet it is not a lonely Christmas for André, who has traditionally celebrated Boxing Day with Joop van den Ende and his family for years. “It will come to an end, those days,” he says. The comedian also has good contact with Omroep MAX boss Jan Slagter. The two call daily, or visit each other with sausage rolls.

“For example, I have a number of friends who call every day. I like that, especially when you’re alone. Because at some point you think: I’ll be lying there at the bottom of the stairs, if no one will call found you three days later. So it’s nice that you have some kind of control, only mean sweet, have it.”

André continues: “If you are alone it can just happen. I only have to take a wrong step and then I lie there. And if I don’t have my phone with me (…) I’m almost 75, every day something can happen. No one knows how old he will be.”

Earlier, Aran spoke with Marieke Elsinga. Specially for Aran on Tour Marieke gets a lift from Aran to her gym. Along the way they tell personal stories and at one point they also talked about Peter R. de Vries.
