André managed to move and touch many people with his words during the National Remembrance Day on 4 May. In his speech, the comedian said that he was proud to be able to live in the Netherlands, where you can and may be who you are. The 74-year-old closed with a kiss for his husband Martin, who died of bone cancer last January at the age of 55.
“That was also because I was happy that it went well, thanks to Martin I think”, André looks back Aran on Tour. “It was also nice that a rainbow appeared over the palace at the end of the speech. That seemed like agreed work.”

Martin is there according to the All of Holland Baktpresenter is always with him, so he talks to him every day. “Every day,” he says. “I just left home too, so I say goodbye to him (…) Every now and then you discuss things with him – I don’t sit down, but that gives support.” André also always has a photo of his husband with him when he goes away or travels. “Normally, when I have a quieter day, I really think about him a lot. Absolutely. I miss him every day.”
