Helloween Promises a Happier Sound for Their 2025 Album
German power metal legends Helloween are gearing up to release their next studio album in 2025, and fans can expect a lighter, more accessible sound this time around. "Happy Helloween," as vocalist Andi Deris describes it, will be a departure from the more intricate and demanding "Helloween" (2021), offering a more streamlined and enjoyable listening experience.
While their previous album was a testament to the band’s prowess and ability to push musical boundaries, Deris acknowledges its intensity. "It was edgy, it was heavy, it was complicated here and there. After listening to it, [I] needed a pause," he explains.
"The next album will be much more easy listening," Deris promises, "much more enjoyable to sing along [to]. There are lots of parts in there." He further emphasizes the positive energy embedded within the new music, distinctly labeling it as a "happy, happy Helloween" experience.
The band credits their newfound confidence and efficient workflow for this shift in tone. "The last album, we had to get to know each other in that new setup, lineup, how to work with [each other]," Deris explains. This time, they’ve embraced a more relaxed and trusting approach. "Everybody has such great ideas; just don’t control each other," he says.
Recorded individually and then remotely collaborated upon, the process allowed for greater personal freedom and minimized studio time. "Everybody is just relieved that you [are] still at home," Deris explains, appreciating the modern technology that facilitates this new dynamic.
This approach has fostered a sense of mutual respect and understanding within the band, which is crucial for a group as large and historically complex as Helloween.
Deris embraces the contrasting personalities within the band, highlighting their ability to find common ground despite differences. "I think the only thing you need to accept [is] that you are different people," he emphasizes.
This newfound sense of harmony seems to permeate the music itself. "Even if somebody was pissed off…again, somebody did not react like he did back in the days, with aggression or something like that, but in normal words and said, ‘Hey, I have a little problem here,’" Deris recalls.
"Happy Helloween" promises to be a testament to this newfound unity and a joyful celebration of the band’s enduring legacy.
Further evidence of this positive trajectory is seen in Helloween’s upcoming live album, "Live At Budokan," set for release on December 13, 2024. This document of their sold-out concert at Tokyo’s legendary Nippon Budokan captures the band at their energetic best, marking the finale of their epic 2022-2023 world tour.
Available in multiple formats, including 2CD-digipak, 3LP vinyl, Blu-ray, DVD and digital, "Live At Budokan" offers fans numerous ways to solidify this triumphant chapter in Helloween’s ongoing saga.
## Helloween Pumpkins reign supreme: A conversation with Halloween expert Dr. Jack O’Lantern
**World-Today-News.com Exclusive**
As the ever-popular Halloween season approaches, the gourd-shaped specter of the classic jack-o-lantern looms large. But are these grinning gourds just a whimsical tradition, or is there something more to their haunting history?
To delve deeper into the cultural importance of pumpkins and the ubiquitous jack-o-lantern, we sat down with renowned Halloween expert, Dr. Jack O’Lantern, professor of folklore and superstition at the University of Slashington.
**WTN:** Dr. O’Lantern, thank you for taking the time to speak with us. Let’s start with the basics. What’s the origin of the jack-o’-lantern?
**Dr. O’Lantern:** Well, the tradition has ancient Celtic roots, dating back centuries. The Celts carved turnips and other root vegetables to scare away evil spirits during their annual festival of Samhain, marking the end of harvest and the beginning of winter.
**WTN:** So, the pumpkin itself wasn’t originally part of the equation?
**Dr. O’Lantern:** Absolutely not.
the Irish immigrants who brought the tradition to America found pumpkins, native to the New World, to be much larger and easier to carve than turnips. Thus, the iconic pumpkin jack-o’-lantern as we know it was born.
**WTN:** The jack-o’-lantern has become synonymous with Halloween. What is it about this simple creation that resonates so powerfully with people?
**Dr. O’Lantern:** I believe it taps into our primal fears and fascinations with the unknown.
The flickering candle inside the carved pumpkin creates an eerie glow, casting dancing shadows that play tricks on our vision. It’s both inviting and threatening, reminiscent of the flickering flame of a bonfire, a symbol of warmth and protection but also of danger and the wild.
**WTN:** Beyond the spooky aesthetic, is there any deeper meaning to the jack-o’-lantern?
**Dr. O’Lantern:**
Certainly. In many cultures, the jack-o’-lantern represents a guide for the spirits of the departed. The carved faces, with their wide grins,
are thought to welcome the spirits while warding off any malevolent forces.
**WTN:** With the rise of technology, are we seeing a decline in the conventional jack-o’-lantern?
**Dr. O’Lantern:**
I wouldn’t say so. Sure, there are LEAD lights and projected images, but nothing quite replaces the charm and intimacy of a hand-carved pumpkin.
There’s a certain satisfaction
in choosing the perfect pumpkin, scraping out its insides, and meticulously carving a design. It’s a tactile,
almost meditative experience that connects us to a long and rich tradition.
**WTN:** Thank you for shedding light on the history and significance of the jack-o’-lantern, Dr. O’Lantern.
As Halloween approaches, we’ll all be appreciating
these grinning gourds with a deeper understanding thanks to your insights.
**World-Today-News.com wishes you a safe and happy Halloween.**
