Chairman of the Election Winning Body (Bappilu) of the Democratic Party Andi Arief claimed to have received some money from the inactive Regent of North Penajam Paser (PPU), Abdul Gafur Mas’ud. There were 2 gifts, the first one was received directly by Andi Arief in the amount of Rp. 50 million.
This was revealed by Andi Arief when testifying at the Abdul Gafur trial at the Samarinda Corruption Court, Wednesday (20/7/2022). Andi admitted that he initially received the money in March 2021.
“It’s true (had received money from Abdul Gafur), as far as I know, Pak Gafur gave it in March 2021, the other one I forgot the month, and that I didn’t ask for, sir,” Andi Arief said while testifying.

Andi said the money was used to help Democratic Party (PD) cadres who were affected by COVID. He admitted that the money Gafur gave was not related to Musda PD.
“Only at that time… don’t look at it from now on, there were a lot of COVID-19 afflicting the cadres of the Democratic Party at that time, so Pak Gafur gave it to us by helping, I will explain later there are more questions, but clearly there is no relationship what’s the name… Musda… it doesn’t have any relation, but indeed because of Mr. Gafur, I have heard that since how many years have DPP been paying attention to small employees,” he explained.
Money in the Black Crackle
Andi Arief also explained the technique for giving the money. He said the money was placed in a black plastic bag. Gafur also handed over the money through his driver.
“Mr. Gafur never (gives directly), so he gave the driver, because early in the morning the black crackle was Rp. 50 million, sir, I asked Mr. Gafur, ‘What is this money, Mr. Gafur’, ‘yes, use it for friends who got COVID’, if I was given Rp 50 million to help, I wouldn’t accept it, sir. Just like that. I also don’t know if it’s corruption money or not, but what is clear is that at that time COVID was high, sir, several people also died in the Democratic Party,” he said.
Not only once, according to Andi, Abdul Gafur also sent money but it was not intended for Andi. The money was sent by Gafur through the account of the Democrat staff, but he doesn’t remember the exact amount.
“The second thing that I remember that I was never given to Pak Gafur was that Pak Gafur suddenly helped, if I’m not mistaken it’s about COVID again, but if I’m not mistaken it’s not a direct gift. Pak Gafur never gave directly, but maybe through an account and the amount I don’t know exactly 50 (Rp 50 million) or how much,” he said.
