The Junta de Andalucía, through the Andalusian Women’s Institute (IAM), has awarded 44,961 euros for the works to repair the fissures and cracks in the balustrade and other exterior elements of Casa Fischer, the old residential chalet building -Tower built at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century located on Paseo de la Caridad which currently houses the IAM headquarters in Almera.
The company Obras Múmerelo will be in charge of executing the works, which will last for six months once the works start in accordance with the resolution signed last Thursday by the director of the IAM, Olga Carrín, consulted by Europa Press.
The objective of the action is to put an end to the pathologies detected in 2020 in the property, cataloged in the current PGOU, mainly on the roof, the tower and the railings. The main deterioration of these pieces is revealed “through fissuring, cracking and detachment of their component parts” as a result of the humidity that has managed to penetrate them and has caused their oxidation.
Among other minor damages, the appearance of humidity can also be seen due to the lack of adherence of the mastics placed in the joints of window sills (first floor), sheet metal wall coverings (roof floor) or the breakage of the step leading up to the roof. of the tower, among others. Likewise, it is pointed out that the general detachment of the paint from the balustrades has favored the entry of water into the cracks, accelerating the corrosion of the interior reinforcements.
The action proposes the “complete replacement” of the balustrade on the coffered plan and partially on the tower plan, the repair of the damage to the access stairs to the tower, actions on the roof skirting boards, replacement of window seals that have caused moisture retention and crack repair.
The IAM commissioned the project in March of last year to act on the singular property in view of the deficiencies detected in the work railing of balconies, external stairs and parapets of roofs and roof terraces.
Casa Fischer, located to the north of Paseo de la Caridad, became the headquarters of the IAM in 2011 after more than two years of works that involved an investment of more than 3.6 million euros according to the project drawn up by the architect Ramón de Torres for the recovery of the property as well as its gardens. The building, which dates from the end of the 19th century, brings together outstanding historicist and modernist elements.
