President of the so-called. RPL Alexander Alaev spoke about the prospects Russia’s move from UEFA to the Asian Confederation:
“We are members of UEFA. Yes, suspended from the competition, but we are members of UEFA. The situation is developing dynamically. I would like us to play in Europe: play in the Champions League and the Europa League, in the Conference League, play in the European Championship and qualify for the World Cup through the Euro Qualifiers.
Nobody knows how the situation will develop, what it will lead to, whether we will return to Europe or not. It is clear that Asia is less attractive: both financially and from a sporting point of view. But, perhaps, someday the question will arise differently: to be conditionally selected through Asia or not to be selected anywhere. Then I’ll probably say it makes sense. Since Europe is number one in football, I would like to stay there.
A possible change of confederation is a very difficult bureaucratic process. This is a stock chain, for over a year. So far, it’s just talk and rumours,” the official told local media.
Earlier it became known that in Russia allow exit from UEFA and transfer to the Asian Football Confederation.
