According to the United Nations “World Population Prospects 2022” report, by today (15) the world population will reach 8 billion. This number will continue to grow in the coming decades, but at a slower pace and with regional differences.

According to “CCTV” reports, due to the increase in life expectancy and childbearing age population, the United Nations predicts that the world’s population will increase to about 8.5 billion by 2030, 9.7 billion in 2050, and will reach a peak of about 10.4 trillion in the 1980s and maintain this level until 2100.

On the other hand, the global average life expectancy continues to increase and the superimposed decline in the fertility rate will exacerbate population aging and increase the demand for elderly care, which will affect the labor market and the national pension system.

According to United Nations data, the global average life expectancy in 2019 was 72.8 years, 9 years more than in 1990; by 2050, the average life expectancy is projected to reach 77.2 years. The share of people aged 65 and over in the total population will be 10% in 2022 and rise to 16% in 2050.

In addition, the United Nations predicts that by 2050 more than half of the world’s new population will be concentrated in eight countries including the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines and Tanzania.

According to the “World Population Prospects 2022” report, India is expected to become the most populous country as early as 2023 and reach 1.7 billion in 2050.
