The arrested chief of the Third Regional Police Department, Samuil Hadjiev, changed the cell with a hospital room, TrafficNews reported. As soon as the District Court imposed the most severe measure “Detention in custody” on him, the policeman complained of kidney pain and was taken to hospital.
Only a week ago, the director of the police, senior commissioner Yordan Rogachev, was placed in the same ward. He was discharged on Friday. Due to his entry into the hospital, the police chief got away with the deputy. the Minister and the Personnel Officer of the Ministry of Interior. To this day, it is still unclear what the order of the minister was.
Tomorrow, the Court of Appeals will consider the detention measures of Samuil Hadjiev, Atanas Kachakov, Danail Dimitrov and Simeon Ivanov. The three have been charged with numerous crimes.
On May 19, the head of the Third Regional Police Department in Plovdiv, Samuil Hadjiev, and six other police officers were detained during spectacular arrests. The action was of the District Prosecutor’s Office – Plovdiv and Internal Security. According to the prosecution, they have been involved in serious crimes such as corruption, umbrella over prostitution, drug trafficking and others. Accusations of kidnapping, attempted theft, crimes against justice and illegal possession of ammunition also followed.
One of the most serious is an attempt to steal 500 kg of marijuana for medical purposes from a warehouse in the Asenovgrad village of Bolyartsi. The accused took advantage of their official position, according to the prosecution’s indictment.
Today, once again, Hadjiev’s lawyer, Dimitar Markovski, said that his client is innocent and entering the warehouse in Bolyartsi is a routine police operation, not an attempted theft. He announced that the chief of the Third Regional Police Department was there together with his direct supervisor – senior commissioner Rogachev. The two checked a signal for illegally stored 10 tons of marijuana.
However, there are many cracks in the lawyer’s defense. Apart from working on the territory of a foreign district, the police officers were in their private cars, they did not notify the chief of the district on whose territory they were operating, and among other things, after they released the so-called secret post in front of the warehouse with the explanation that there was medical marijuana there, a few hours later Hadjiev and Kachakov returned and entered the room. At that moment, they were met by the son of the warehouse manager. A little later, the woman called 112. What was the explanation for this re-visit should be clear in court.
Given Hadjiev’s deteriorating health, the measure is likely to be considered in his absence.
Kachakov, Dimitrov and Simeon Ivanov are accused of kidnapping and harassing a man from Karlovac. There is no evidence that any of them are ill.
