«And the airport doesn’t take off» – Pescara

PESCARA. «The hemorrhaging of passengers from Abruzzo airport continues, which goes hand in hand with the decrease in flights and the absence of governance».
The Honorable Member raises the alarm Luciano D’Alfonso. According to data provided today by Assaeroporti, last September there were 538 fewer travelers (-0.6%) registered in the Pescara infrastructure. In total, in 2024 there were 28,792 (-4.4%) fewer attendances compared to last year.
«A figure that goes against the trend compared to the national average (+11.5%) and the excellent performances that the nearby Ancona airport is highlighting (+18.4%)», declares D’Alfonso, who recalls how «the Saga board of directors it expired on June 30th and the center-right which has the majority in the Region is fighting over seats, so much so that to date we still don’t know who will be part of the new governance”.
«And yet, four months have passed. The director general of the airport, Luca Bruniis currently completing its first year of work in Abruzzo, but there is little to celebrate”, continues D’Alfonso, “the data relating to transits in the period November 2023 – September 2024 say, in fact, that in these months the Pescara airport lost 35,766 users”. After the cancellation of the connection with Milan Linate, which occurred in August 2023, to reach the Lombard capital you must pass through Bergamo.
«From tomorrow this connection will also be reduced», announces D’Alfonso, «the Tuesday flight will be skipped and, from January, also the Thursday one. Furthermore, with the month of October the summer timetable also ended and only Bergamo, Brussels, Bucharest, Catania, Frankfurt, London, Luxembourg and Tirana remain as destinations, while absolute silence reigns on the connections planned for next year”.
