AND TAKHAWOU SALOUM BRINGS NEW BLOOD TO THE KAOLACK REGIONAL HOSPITAL

Kaolack, June 12 (APS) – The ”And Takhowou Saloum” Movement initiated, on Sunday, in Kaolack, a blood donation day to strengthen the blood bank of the regional hospital.

”Today is a success for us. We exceeded the number of blood bags that we had set ourselves as a goal of 70 blood bags. We managed to collect nearly 100 bags of blood,” said the movement’s communications officer, Amadou Ka.

This collection activity was organized at the health post of Thioffac, a peripheral district of the municipality of Kaolack.

“When we heard the announcement that there is a lack of blood, as young people, we said to ourselves that we too must organize this collection to give our support through a day of blood donation”, explained the president of the movement, Awa Touré.

“It is a noble act that we salute. The Senegalese do not have the culture of giving blood but they must know that it is a gift of self. This gift is important especially at the level of maternity hospitals”, underlined the head nurse of Thioffac, Mamadou Ndiaye.

Placed on the baptismal font less than two months ago, the ”And Takhowou Saloum” movement aims to participate in the development of Kaolack.
