JAKARTA – Archaeologists have unearthed an ancient pyramid along with numerous artifacts and gold jewelery at the monumental Kyrykungir complex in Toktamys, Kazakhstan, about 420 miles southeast of the capital Astana.
Piramida kuno with six sides each measuring about six feet long it is estimated to be 4,000 years old and dates from the Bronze Age.
“It is a very sophisticated complex structure with several circles in the middle. This pyramid was built with great precision,” said Ulan Umitkaliyev, Head of the Eurasian National University Department of Archeology and Ethnology, quoted from the Miami Herald, Thursday (10/8/2023).
Excavations at the Kyrykungir monumental complex have been underway since 2014. From the photos of the pyramid ruins found, it can be seen that each end of the wall is equipped with large upright black stones with the flat side facing outward.
“The outer walls of this complex structure are dominated by images of various animals, especially horses,” said Umitkaliyev.
For archaeologist also found horse bones buried not far from the pyramids, suggesting that this pyramid was a place of worship for animals.
Archaeologists also reported discoveries of pottery, gold earrings and other jewelery. “The artifacts show that the pyramids were the center of culture in ancient times,” said Umitkaliyev.
