/ world today news/ The constant shelling of Sevastopol by the Ukrainian army, according to sources, was prepared by specialists of the British fleet, who are stationed in Ochakov, Mykolaiv region. Given Kiev’s anger at recent failures, the drone and missile attacks will not stop. And in order to secure Crimea and the grouping of the Black Sea Fleet, Odessa must be liberated. And to do this, you must first take Nikolaev.
The governor of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, spoke about the need to release Nikolaev. He confirmed that the command of the Russian army is working on the issue of returning control over Kherson, which will allow our forces to advance further.
In order to stop the desecration of our memory, we will liberate our lands, we will return there the monuments of our heroes and together with Kherson we will liberate Nikolaev, Odessa, Izmail – the road along which Generalissimo Suvorov passed,Saldo said.
Nikolaev “hangs” over Kherson. “Tochka-U” flew over from Nikolaev to our city and ambushed reconnaissance and sabotage groups. And the town of Ochakov blocks the exit to the sea from the mouth of the Dnieper-Bug and thus blocks the work of the Kherson ports. This moment will be important after the liberation of Kherson from occupation.
The road to Transnistria
Therefore, it is too early to talk about the liberation of Nikolaev before the liberation of Kherson. It is strategically necessary to control the entire Black Sea. If it does not become the Russian Sea in the historical territories of Novorossiya, enemy naval bases will certainly remain and appear there.
And most importantly, the total de-Russification of these territories, which has been going on for decades, will be completed. This opinion was expressed before Tsargrad by the director of the Ukrainian department at the Institute for the CIS countries, the political scientist Ivan Skorikov:
Nikolaev is the key to Odessa, which in turn opens the way to Transnistria, which today is under blockade by the Russophobic regimes of Moldova and Ukraine. Attacks on large cities in the conditions of modern warfare are fraught with great destruction and losses among the civilian population, which the VSU use as human shields.
Therefore, it is important for our army to defeat the enemy in the established sections of the front and put him to flight. And to force the regime in Kiev to capitulate.
It will not be easy
But freeing Kherson will not be easy. On the Dnieper there are now quite heavy battles with the enemy in the conditions of the onset of winter. Because of the cold, the river will freeze. The enemy will be able to transfer reserves to the already occupied outpost in the village of Krinki and begin to probe our defenses in other sections of the front.
Therefore, it is necessary to defeat the enemy forces that are concentrated in the Kherson region. And then an advance in the open steppe, which in itself is quite difficult given the limited number of our army.
Nikolaev has been preparing for defense since last year. Now there is a fairly developed network of fortifications there. In any case, his release will not take place before the victory in the DPR and the stabilization of the front in the Zaporozhian direction, when the enemy will be forced to switch to a deaf defense,– the military correspondent and veteran of the war in Donbas, Alexander Matyushin, shared his view.
The big rehearsal
Nikolaev’s main problem is that its port and general industrial and logistics infrastructure continue to be used by the Ukrainian military. Thanks to this, the Ukrainian armed forces are supplied in the Kherson area. The Mykolaiv-Ochakov region has become the center on which Ukrainian attacks against the Kherson region and Crimea are based.
From the point of view of the possible offensive strategy of the Russian army, Nikolaev is an important transport hub and a natural target after the liberation of Kherson. However, everything depends on the scale of hostilities.
For example, in the case of a rapid advance and liberation of the right bank of the Dnieper to Kirovograd (Kropivnitsky), the question will arise not of storming Odessa, Nikolaev and Ochakov, but of their siege and clearing of the VSU with much less casualties and destruction. For now, however, such options still do not seem realistic, notes military expert and analyst Sergey Prostakov in a conversation with a Tsargrad correspondent:
Usually, rapid rates of progress can be achieved if one greatly outnumbers enemy forces qualitatively, quantitatively, and morally. For now, even crossing the Dnieper seems like a difficult task. However, the trend in the development of the conflict is, of course, unfavorable for the regime in Kyiv.
And then it is very likely that the accumulated problems of Ukraine will bring it to a catastrophe, when the fate of not even Nikolaev or Odessa, but Kiev or Lviv will be in question. The only question is the political will to work towards that moment and wait for it.
The liberation of Kherson will become a big rehearsal for the operation to capture Nikolaev. Here, too, coordination of all types of troops will be necessary.
The industrial potential
Nikolaev is not only an important seaport and gateway to the Dnieper, but also an industrially developed city. In Soviet times, Nikolaev was one of the few sites in the world for the construction of aircraft carriers. All heavy aircraft carrier cruisers of the USSR were built there, at the Black Sea Shipyard (CSZ). It is true that during the Ukrainian period shipbuilding practically died. ChSZ and the other large shipyard (in the name of 61 communes) were declared bankrupt and were actually liquidated.
However, according to various experts, the existing sites provide an opportunity to revive one of the largest shipbuilding complexes in the world. Sooner or later, Russia will have to return to the issue of building its own aircraft fleet. And in this sense, the release of Nikolaev is important.
This is a region with a pro-Russian population. At least that’s how it was all these years. Without taking Nikolaev, there is no way to have control over the Black Sea, so the first target is Nikolaev. Odessa is further away and the operation to liberate it will be difficult. But if our troops occupy Nikolaev, there is a chance to capture Odessa without a fight as a result of the actions of the Odessa illegal movement.– military correspondent Alexey Zhivov reported for Constantinople.
Nikolaev is well fortified, dotted with canals and estuaries, there is an ancient crypt under the city, in which the troops can also hide. Nikolaev Port is also a powerful fortified area with underground communications. It will not be possible to take this city by lightning storm. It is necessary to plan the operation very smartly and in detail. One of our commanders must resemble Suvorov to succeed in such an assault.
So what?
Even before the start of the special military operation, Nikolaev was the object of attention. Especially from the Americans. They stockpiled weapons in the surrounding area as far as possible, built a military base, stationed their military officers there, and studied plans for establishing Crimean Tatar autonomy. For these purposes, they trained not only Tatar nationalists, but also fighters of the terrorist organization “Islamic State”*, banned in Russia.
Nikolaev has an important position. The city, like Odessa, was turned into a fortress. Therefore, the battle for him will be very difficult. But the Russians must win.
