The call announces that the march will leave this morning, at 8:00 am, from the Supreme Electoral Tribunal and will head towards the Congress of the Republic. Well, the objective of this demonstration is to protest against “corrupt deputies, prosecutors and judges.”

This measure is in addition to those carried out last Monday, where community representatives began the protests. Among them, the 48 Cantons of Totonicapán and the Indigenous Municipality of Sololá, held the first sit-ins. They made them in front of the offices of the Public Ministry (MP) in various municipalities and departmental capitals.

According to these organizations, what they are looking for is for the attorney general, Consuelo Porras, and the head of the Special Prosecutor’s Office Against Impunity (FECI), Rafael Curruchiche, to present their complaint to the position, since they are accused of wanting to break the constitutional order and of disrespecting the will of the people, which was expressed with the result of the second electoral round.

Ancestral Authorities give a deadline for the resignation of Porras and Curruchiche

The Indigenous Mayor’s Office even gave until this Wednesday, September 6, for Porras and Curruchiche to resign from office. Otherwise they announced that they will take to the streets to demonstrate.

In the petition they call on the president Alejandro Giammattei, so that he is the one who requests the resignation of the aforementioned, but they also ask that the immunity of the Seventh Criminal Instance Judge, Fredy Orellana, be removed, who issued the order to withdraw the legal personality of the Seed Movement party.
