KOMPAS.com – Coach Everton, Carlo Ancelotti, responding to the insinuation of his foster children expressed via social media. Ancelotti to carry a name Andrea Pirlo.
The root of the problem is the outpouring of the Everton winger’s heart, Alex Iwobi, on social media.
Iwobi celebrates his call-up to the Nigeria squad for the duel against Benin and Lesotho at the break of competition for national team matches at the end of March with a post on Instagram.
“It’s always an honor to be called up to the national team. Hopefully I can play in an ideal position, “said Iwobi in his upload.
The comment that sparked many interpretations took the moment just a day after Iwobi was pulled off by Ancelotti in the 58th minute in a duel against West Bromwich Albion on March 4.

This season Iwobi has been asked by Ancelotti to play a number of roles, including as a right winger and right midfielder in a three-man midfield scheme.
“I want to know his ideal position, because usually I want to put players in a role that they are comfortable playing. If Iwobi has an idea about his ideal position, I need to know and want to know, “said Ancelotti.
To clarify the situation, Ancelotti brought up the name of his former protégé at AC Milan who is now on the bench for Juventus coach, Andrea Pirlo.
Ancelotti shared how open discussions between himself and Pirlo led to brilliant discoveries.
“I’d say ‘say, I’m your coach, tell me where you want to play’. When I thought about placing Pirlo as an anchor, I asked ‘Do you like to play in that position or not?’ “
“Yes, he told me ‘I like playing there’ and I put him in that position.”

Pirlo, who was originally the number 10 type of player who operated behind the spearhead, broke when Ancelotti played further back as film director or the anchor standing at the front of the line of defense.
That experience was what Ancelotti wanted to apply to the Iwobi case.
“If Iwobi wants to play as a number 10 or 9 player, I will make it happen, no problem. I can adapt to the system, “said Ancelotti.
Iwobi this season has not always been Ancelotti’s first choice in Everton’s starting line-up.
The agile player who was brought in by Everton from Arsenal for a dowry of 34 million pounds (around 681 billion rupiah) was even always pulled out in the last six occasions as a starter.
Iwobi just contributed one goal plus two assist created Everton from 24 chances grazing at Premier League 2020-2021.
