Ancelotti Reveals Why Real Madrid Lost to Barcelona

Riyadh

Real Madrid failed to win Spanish Super Cup after losing to Barcelona in the finals. Charles Ancelotti admitted Madrid played badly and highlighted one main thing.

Real Madrid lost 1-3 to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final, Monday (16/1/2023) early morning WIB. The whites Gavi, Robert Lewandowski and Pedri scored three goals earlier, before Karim Benzema replied in injury time.

The two teams both recorded six chances on target, it’s just that Barcelona played more effectively and always looked more dangerous. Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said this defeat could not be separated from their own role.

He said the players lost the ball too easily, thus providing an opportunity for Barcelona to immediately press. Another thing that was quite highlighted by the Italian coach was that his team was less aggressive.

“Our mistakes determined the result. We didn’t keep the ball and they scored two goals from there. The game changed. This was a bad match for everyone, but not because of a lack of fighting spirit,” Ancelotti said on the club’s official website.

“There was a lack of intensity and the team wasn’t very agile. We gave away the ball 25 times in the first half, we didn’t show enough intensity in one-on-one duels and we lost a lot of duels. It was a bad game in all aspects.”

“When you concede three goals it means you need to improve. The players have to realize that these mistakes are easy to avoid. But before mistakes, both teams have chances to score goals,” he added.
