The Regional Health Directorate (Diresa) of Áncash announced the success of the National Vaccination Sweep in this part of the country, which began on September 15. During the campaign, 400 vaccination groups traveled through the 20 districts of the region, dedicating themselves to the protection of children from 2 months to 6 years old.
Thanks to this effort, more than 102 thousand boys and girls have been vaccinated against polio and have received an additional dose of the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine. The brigades went to schools and made house-to-house visits to achieve this important goal.
“To achieve this goal we have raised awareness among parents and we have the support of the Regional Directorate of Education, as well as EsSalud, health network leaders and center heads, who were 100 percent involved in sweeping . ” announced Lorena Cerna Todelo, regional coordinator of vaccinations at Diresa.
However, the expert urged parents who have not yet vaccinated their small children to go to the nearest health facility.
