Once again, the opposition chose the most inappropriate topic for a vote of no confidence. Everything else in which we can navigate could use – in the sphere of culture, education. Many positive steps have been taken in the field of defence. We started from a very low level, from the lack of any rearmament of the Bulgarian army. Thus, the former Minister of Defense Nikolay Svinarov commented in the “Bulgaria ON AIR” studio on the vote of no confidence in the government submitted by the BSP and “Vazrazhdane”.
According to him, an exceptional part of the mental reform in the security forces is not finished, a strategy and structural reform is also needed. As an urgent decision, which must be taken, is the attraction of personnel, which is also done with attractive pay.
“20 years ago, our contingents were well paid as military personnel, they were in third place in terms of status among other countries. There was a desire to participate in missions for personnel military personnel and for those directly willing to participate in military missions,” the former Minister of Defense gave an example.
He commented on the purchase of the “Stryker”. Define them not as state-of-the-art, but as a good enough compatibility facility.
“They are dangerous because it is not just about buying the relevant equipment, there must be trained personnel. There is a need for additional training, for modern electronic command,” Svinarov added.
His analysis shows that public procurement procedures are carried out in the Bulgarian army, in which very specific parameters are set, which tends to be for specific companies.
The former Minister of Defense is also adamant that if the Prime Minister and the head of DANS cannot work together and do not trust each other, one of them must leave.
“Perhaps the blows remain in the CEC, there are lawyers there, but it was evident from their faces that they were extremely worried,” commented Svinarov on the scandal.
Regarding who is pulling the strings in the state, he was categorical – it is not Peevski.
“He is given a leading role, but this does not mean that he can fulfill it. In DPS, the leading role will continue to be in Ahmed Dogan. I do not know the kitchen of things, but Peevski fulfills a role and fulfills it well enough”, he concluded Nikolay Svinarov.
