From 2024/25, a new CL mode with the so-called Swiss system will apply.
And so the preliminary round groups of the Champions League were drawn for the last time on August 31st. And like almost every year, this time a constellation emerged that was then dubbed either the death group or the hammer group. In Group F, four teams, Paris St. Germain, Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan and Newcastle United, are fighting for the top two places, all of which could actually be expected in the round of 16.
For the best sports betting providers in Germany, two clubs in this group, PSG (sixth position) and Newcastle United (eighth position), are in the top ten when it comes to the odds for a Champions League victory. In what is presumably a tight group, every game can be crucial for progress. This was also the case on the first match day, which presented a major challenge for BVB with the guest appearance in the Prinzenpark in Paris.
Our PSG BVB betting tips
Tip: Goal Mbappe – Odds 1.90 at bet365: PSG have not started the season well so far and have already dropped a few points, but Mbappe still has seven goals in the league. He will also be their biggest weapon in the CL. At bet365 Germany you bet on a goal at any time with odds of 1.90. Anyone who bets that he will score the first goal of the game will be offered odds of 4.0.
Tip: 2:1, 3:1 or 4:1 win PSG – Odds 4.33 at bwin: For us, PSG is the clear favorite in this game. Despite the Parisians’ weak start to the season, they will prevail against BVB. But since Dortmund is also strong offensively, we are confident that they will score once. In this case, a multi-tip at bwin is an interesting option, despite the risk.
Tip: Our outsider tip is that BVB doesn’t lose – Odds 2.05 at ODDSET: Even if PSG is ahead in terms of odds, their recent defeat against Nice showed that they are not unbeatable. And we don’t go that far with our X2 tip at ODDSET online. Dortmund already knows how to do it and they recently showed good comeback qualities against Freiburg. There is risk, but the odds are tempting.

Paris SG vs Borussia Dortmund
For those who believe that BVB will win, here is a somewhat safer option with a +1 HC. If things get close and we can certainly imagine that on the first matchday of the group phase, then it could end in a draw and in that case our tip wins.
Paris St. Germain: Stats, Facts and Form
To speak of a major false start would certainly be an exaggeration, but eight points from the first five games are undoubtedly not the result that Paris St. Germain had imagined. It was to be expected that the change of course, including the farewell to the aging superstars Neymar, Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos and Marco Verratti, would take time, but PSG still wanted to dominate Ligue 1 again from the start under the new coach Luis Enrique. After a mixed preparation with five test matches against AC Le Havre (2:0), Al Nassr (0:0), Cerezo Osaka (2:3), Inter Milan (1:2) and Jeonbuk Hyundai (3:0). PSG did not get beyond a draw on the first two matchdays against FC Lorient (0-0) and at FC Toulouse (1-1). With a 3-1 win against last year’s runner-up RC Lens and a 4-1 away win at Olympique Lyon, Kylian Mbappe and Co. seemed to be gaining momentum before the international break, but they conceded one in the home game against OGC Nice on Friday unexpected setback in the form of a 2:3 defeat, which also made it clear that the structure is far from having the necessary stability.
Borussia Dortmund: Statistics, facts and form
Of course, Borussia Dortmund’s missed championship was a big topic throughout the summer, as was Jude Bellingham’s departure to Real Madrid. With the first test games, which were played at Westfalia Rhynern (7:0), at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen (3:2) and at Rot-Weiß Erfurt (2:1) without most of the national players and were therefore only of limited significance, The focus then slowly but surely turned to the new gaming year. The preparation really picked up speed with the trip to the USA, during which the test games at San Diego Loyal (6:0), against Manchester United (3:2) and Chelsea FC (1:1) were very promising. This was even more true for the dress rehearsal, which was won 3-1 against Ajax Amsterdam, which further fueled the already considerable expectations. In the first round of the DFB Cup, BVB held on with an ultimately clear 6-1 win at TSV Schott Mainz, but then had a lot of trouble on the first matchday of the Bundesliga against 1. FC Köln (1-0) and won very flattering. At VfL Bochum (1:1) and against 1. FC Heidenheim (2:2), coach Edin Terzic’s team couldn’t get beyond two meager draws, which meant there was already a hint of a crisis mood. The fact that BVB is not (yet) a top team became clear once again on Saturday, despite the 4-2 win at SC Freiburg, when they found themselves trailing 1-2 after a 1-0 lead.

Expected lineups: PSG – BVB
Despite the notable departures, PSG still has a squad that is unparalleled, at least in France. With Manuel Ugarte, Randal Kolo Muani and Bradley Barcola, three new additions came against Nice, which together cost around 200 million euros, only from the bench on which Marquinhos also had to sit. Meanwhile, Marco Asensio, who returned from the Spanish national team with a foot injury, is out, as are long-term patients Nuno Mendes and Presnel Kimpembe. It remains to be seen whether Fabian Ruiz, who was sidelined against Nice, is an option.
The only people missing from Borussia Dortmund are Thomas Meunier and Mateu Morey, but they no longer play a major role in the plans anyway. Niclas Füllkrug is now on the way to becoming a candidate for the starting eleven after his short injury break. In general, the pressure from the second row on the starting line-up on Saturday afternoon from Niklas, Felix Nmecha, Marco Reus and Marius Wolf, among others, is high

Paris St. Germain vs Borussia Dortmund: betting tip and prediction
Both teams didn’t get off to a perfect start, although at least BVB’s recent trend is in the right direction. The whole structure at Borussia still seems fragile and it seems questionable whether a big chunk like Paris St. Germain can be cleared out of the way. Especially in Paris, we only have limited faith in BVB and rather expect that the individual class of Mbappe and Co. will prevail.
