Analysis of Vladimir Putin’s Drawing: Insights into his Psycho-emotional State

Russian President Vladimir Putin created a small drawing on the touch panel at the exhibition of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, and it was analyzed by psychologist and psychotherapist Olga Golubitskaya, writes unian.net.

The psychologist explained that in the world of psychodiagnostics, illustrated tests are used to determine the psycho-emotional state. This method is usually used for children, but it can also be used for adults.

She pointed out that only a rough explanation can be given for Putin’s drawing. “If we look at how he painted, he started to draw in a very strange way. He started to draw blurred boundaries to the right and left… It is clear that he did not know what he wanted to draw,” said Golubitskaya.

According to her, often in projective techniques, drawings on the right and left side talk about what happened to a person in the past and in the future.

Therefore, perhaps the past and the future are blurred and have no definite boundaries. Then he combines them with vertical lines – as a support for the search, obtaining a geometric figure, and begins to draw a human face.

The psychologist added that this is a very uncharacteristic approach to drawing a face.

Golubitskaya noted that in general there are questions about Putin’s mental health, which have already been discussed a lot and for a long time. “Atypical behavior of children in drawing tests is considered a marker that additional diagnostics should be performed, as questions arise about the child’s thinking. The same can be said about an adult,” she pointed out.

When asked to what extent this drawing indicates some kind of psychological problem, Golubitskaya admitted that if such a drawing had been drawn by a child, she would be sure that additional tests should be carried out to find out the psycho-emotional state of the child, since this is an atypical face drawing algorithm.

“I would have questions about the child’s mental health, his level of development, his adequacy and perception,” said the expert.

The psychologist also points out that the way Putin drew his eyes indicates how he looks at people, while the ears, drawn last, indicate that “he will listen at the very end.” It is interesting that the hair is shown standing up – this may indicate aggression.
