The die is cast. The Antwerp Open Vld remains a member of the coalition with N-VA and Vooruit. The party will have one alderman in the college with Erica Caluwaerts. Flemish party leader Willem-Frederik Schiltz (Open Vld) is putting away his ambitions in Antwerp as alderman and councilor. This was decided by the members’ congress of the Antwerp liberals. However great the contrasts were at this congress between the camp to remain in the coalition and the camp to join the opposition, they both shared one thing: their dislike for N-VA and Vooruit.
