Distance learning has contributed to the rapid acquisition of digital skills over the past year, but has also revealed a number of shortcomings.

“Internet connection is not available in all places of Latvia, and some schools, about 10%, could not provide it. “As you can imagine, school closures affect all students, but especially those from lower social backgrounds or low-income families,” said Giovanni Maria Semiraro, an analyst at the OECD Department for Education and Skills.
An international study also shows that teachers in Latvia have a large workload, but also one of the lowest salaries.
