The deputy of the leftist Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN), Anabel Belloso, maintained that as a party they made several proposals during the legislature that is about to end, but these were ignored by the ruling party.
“It was definitely a period that marked, in the legislative agenda, the absence of the priorities that the population needs to be resolved by a State Body like the Legislative Assembly,” Belloso commented in the interview space Diálogo con Ernesto López.
The ruling party was characterized during the 3 years in power by approving everything ordered by the Presidential House; did not approve any initiative promulgated by the opposition; despite there being proposals that would alleviate the pockets of Salvadorans, such as exonerating VAT on products in the basic basket.
“We were making proposals permanently and constantly, listening to and supporting sectors of the population, unfortunately, these were ignored, perhaps with the intention of affecting us. But in the end, those who were denied the right to have their demands heard and debated in the Assembly were the people,” Belloso added.
The parliamentarian maintained that, throughout these three years, they presented approximately 50 initiatives on different topics.
