(CNN Radio Argentina) – Ana Peinetti, head of the Conicet Bionanotechnologies Laboratory spoke this Sunday with CNN Radio on the development of an innovative platform to produce, at low cost, rapid tests for all types of viruses.
In UBA World con Ricardo Braginski Indian: “What we were able to achieve is to have the platform to carry out the tests here in Argentina. “We are very happy with this and it was a process that required many collaborations”he assured.
“Now we have the capacity, equipment, supplies and all the optimized steps to build the test. That means having the storage conditions. “We can produce 5 million tests a year, but we are not on an industrial scale.”he added.
Regarding the details about said platform, he clarified: “We can use antibodies for dengue or another virus that we want to apply. It requires optimization, it is not direct but it is quite fast. Maybe with a few months of financing we could adapt it.”said.
The specialist commented on the existence of some projects. “The idea is to bring this platform to dengue and other viruses, hoping that they continue taking into account the current situation. The intention is”he remarked.
“Once we remove the serum from the horse we can have a way to purify it and in a week have the antibodies to put on the strip”he said.
Finally, Peinetti assured that they must be preparing for the presence of new viruses. “You have to monitor and have tools so that if one appears you can quickly have an antibody or an element that recognizes them,” hill.
