“Sometimes it is very difficult for us to say things because we need to practice assertiveness and confidence,” says Ana Guerra (La Laguna, 1994). From Operación Triunfo, to “hitting rock bottom,” the artist attends Infobae Spain at the Universal Music Hotel in Madrid to present Tiempo de compra, a new song with which she leaves behind a personal (and musical) time of healing.
“I come from La Luz del Martes, a channel opening of wounds and trauma,” he says about his latest, and “therapeutic” album. Now, she prefers to sing to other feelings that concern her, such as love or happiness. “It’s a super cool message to encourage people to never keep anything inside,” she says.

“It is difficult to reinvent yourself, but it is necessary, because otherwise it would become very monotonous,” he indicates. The Canarian needed fresh air, to try new things, to give herself the opportunity to find a new sound with which she could express her new life stage. “Now I’m fine, I’m super happy. I don’t get to tear myself apart and heal, I get another type of music,” she explains.
Looking ahead to November, the Canarian will release an EP that will be made up of several songs in the style of Discount Time. When composing, Ana Guerra is guided by a premise: “Songs have to work with piano and voice,” she explains. As for inspiration, she considers that it is the enemy of happiness. “When you are in a beautiful time when everything seems to be going well, it is very complicated,” she says of her writing. “All of us who admired Alex Ubago always asked that he never get a girlfriend. “My God, what is he going to write about if he is ever happy?” she says with a laugh.

Ana Guerra is an artist who is characterized by “breaking stones.” Work and work. In a situation in which work pressure can take its toll, the Canarian is aware that there are moments in which she has to stop so as not to “collapse.” “I think I’m at a level of work that I like,” she says. “The right one” to be able to be in the present and not to go “crazy from one place to another.” “Over time you let the company know what your limits are. For example, I never do more than three concerts in a row in a weekend,” she says.
After her time in Operación Triunfo, which will launch a new edition this month (through Prime Video), Ana hit “a very deep bottom.” “It is a parallel reality. The exit is hard. There were 16 of us and when the tour ended, each one of us went to her house,” she says. “Then I grabbed on to different ropes, but at first you are the one who has to rethink things and make your own decisions,” she says about the stage immediately after the success of the television format.

Like all his colleagues, he invites new contestants to make the most of the experience and keep the learning in a locked drawer. “Let them absorb everything they can. They have a teaching staff that knows a lot. Whatever phrase someone tells you, keep it to yourself forever because it is very valid,” she says. In difficult moments, the Canarian highlights that “what keeps you going is the love and passion for what you do.” There she includes the people who “offer her time”, who buy tickets for her concerts and who have accompanied her on the tour with which she has visited more than 40 locations in Spain. “The stage is so intimate for me that I know I am going to give my purest self,” she says.
In addition to music, television has become the perfect complement for the Canarian performer, who has participated in Cover Night and also won El Desafío. However, being part of the next edition of Your face sounds to me is not in her plans. “Right now I’m in a moment where I need my 200% to go into my work, my single, my EP and my tour. In the end there are 12, 13… I don’t know how many galas, a lot. Right now I couldn’t dedicate the time I want to that, you know? Looking to the future, yes, he would like to “make a series” or “compose for other artists.” “I find it a very cool challenge to get into the soul of another person,” she says.

Ana Guerra admits that social causes are a source of inspiration for her compositions (in addition to love, of course). “Rozalén once told me to use the speaker we have,” she says. “We have to continue fighting to make the world a little easier for women and to achieve the equality we so desire,” she says. “Sometimes we need to be encouraged by what other women have achieved to gain strength and continue fighting,” she concludes.
