An update has been released that will unlock the hardware restrictions on Samsung phones

Samsung has been embroiled in a minor scandal in recent days as it has been revealed that it is holding back the performance of some of its handsets, and it is a selective solution that does not affect the running of benchmark apps. The manufacturer has partially acknowledged this practice and an update has now been released that is said to fix the situation.

The source of the problem is a service called the Game Optimization Service (GOS), which, according to a previously unlisted list, will slow performance for 10,000 apps and games, while not limiting benchmark apps, so test results can be misleading. Geébench also reacted quickly, classifying Samsung’s practice as manipulation, and banning the top models in the Galaxy S series from the top 4 for the past 4 years.

Samsung has acknowledged that they are “optimizing” the performance of their phones, but the manufacturer says this only happens in games to reduce warm-up and improve uptime. In any case, they promised to release an update that would lift these restrictions, and now the first related update has arrived.

For the first time, the South Korean Galaxy S22 models received the new software, in which the performance limit of the devices was released, and so the games can go full steam ahead. We have not received a specific schedule, but an update may be available in other regions soon, which will also be available on previous Galaxy S series flagships. The only question now is how this will affect warming and uptime.
