Young entrepreneur of 39 years, Manuel Perera, installed since 2017 in the town, embarked on the adventure of the artisanal microbrewery since 2019, and opted for the installation of his business quite simply in his garage. An expensive installation, but the passion is there for this Franco-Venezuelan, a trained biochemist who, motivated by the positive opinions of those around him, has finally taken the plunge to offer the public his own craft beers.
First and foremost, Manuel Perera named his brewery Chamantà, the name of a Venezuelan mountain range revered by the Amerindians. A nod to its origins. Then, the births of multicultural beers followed one another, with two classics: a blonde and an American, Ipa, winner of the gold medal of the 2021 beer competition and two flavored, one very Provençal with rosemary and the other with flavors of passion fruit. “For me, it is the taste of discovery, the change of scenery, which I want to transmit to my customers, products associated with South America and rosemary to honor my host land.”
Already rewards for his drinks
This talented designer is already thinking about other creations, and in front of a growing success is looking for a suitable place to expand. A modest attitude for this young brewer who declines a promising title: as part of the very first craft beer competition last May, organized by the team of the Avignon Wine Competition, he was awarded a medal of gold for its American latit beer, among the 121 samples of French and Belgian beers.
Manuel Perera is the only artisanal brewer selected from Grand Avignon and can now stamp his bottles with the new “Made in Avignon” badge. It is present on the market on Thursday morning in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon.
