Before becoming one of the most famous and discussed ladies in the world, the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton was simply the most ordinary and very shy student. This is clear from a shot that the royal photographer of The Sun Arthur Edwards published in honor of Catherine’s 40th birthday.
This is the first photo Edwards took of the future duchess and she sees the white world for the first time. The most interesting thing is that at that time she was the most ordinary student he accidentally photographed, writes jenata.blitz.bg.
“I didn’t know who she was then,” Edwards admits.
The shot is from 2005. Catherine is with her friends. The girls received an invitation from Prince William to spend the weekend in Sandringham. Kate is wearing jeans and a green jacket, a scarf around her neck and her hair in a low ponytail.
“Then you would never have believed that the young woman who passed through that door would be our future queen,” Edward added in astonishment.
Kate and William met in their first year at St Andrews University in Scotland in 2001. At a ball in 2005, they posed for a joint photo.
Edwards recalls that after the two separated in 2007, it was his wife Anne who spotted Kate at a concert at Wembley Stadium in honor of Princess Diana. “I remember Anne telling me, ‘Looks like it all started over,'” the photographer recalled.
Shortly before their engagement in 2010, Edwards was first introduced to Kate. He then boldly asked Elizabeth II’s grandson about their separation. And the prince replied, “Arthur, I had to make sure this was the right woman for me, because I want this marriage to last forever.”
Whether this is really the case or not, we may never know for sure. It is known only that three years after the resumption of their relationship, Prince William proposed to his beloved during their vacation in Kenya. And the following year they married at Westminster Abbey.
“William was right when he changed his mind and realized that Kate was the woman. The prince wanted his marriage to last forever and I’m sure they will be together until the end,” said Edwards.
“Kate changes over the years, overcoming her natural shyness and becoming more confident. She is smart, pays close attention to detail and never makes mistakes,” said the photographer.
Meanwhile, on the occasion of the Duchess of Kensington’s 40th birthday, three special portraits of the Duchess have been published, which cannot be denied that Kate looks more than captivating. The birthday of Prince William’s wife was yesterday – 9.01.
The photos were taken in November 2021 at the Temperate House in Kew Gardens and will remain in the permanent collection at the National Portrait Gallery, of which the Duchess is a patron.
They will also be on display in Berkshire, St. Andrews and Anglesey, three special sites for the Duchess as part of the Homecoming National Gallery project.
In the photos she wears dresses by Alexander McQueen and earrings belonging to the Queen (second photo) and Princess Diana (first and third).
