The chicken giant pinned to Chartres (Eure-et-Loir) and in several other cities in France. It is a still unprecedented operation that the association for the fight against animal cruelty, L214, is mounting. A mobilization will be held in the capital of Eure-et-Loir this Saturday July 23, 2022in the afternoon.
The L214 association wants to denounce “the cruel practices of the LDC group during an unprecedented “open door” action” where it knocks out the Le Gaulois brand.
A large banner and leaflets
The methods of rearing and slaughtering chickens marketed under the Le Gaulois brand are called into question.
A happening is planned in Chartres to reveal “shocking images of intensive chicken farms, while passers-by will be challenged and invited to sign the associated petition, which has already collected more than 132,000 signatures on the welcomechezlegaulois.fr site”. Activists will also distribute leaflets:
“Welcome to Le Gaulois”: this sarcastic message will appear on a 5 m2 banner in the heart of the city of Chartres, during a fictitious open house operation denouncing the brand’s breeding practices.
Always for the European Chicken Commitment
With these operations throughout France, the defenders of this cause hope to encourage the Sablé-sur-Sarthe group to respect the minimum criteria established by the European Chicken Commitment (ECC) for the chickens it raises and slaughters each year, and to guarantee a minimum share of the outdoors in its supplies.
Throughout the national territory, the operation will mobilize more than 300 activists. Leaflets will be distributed to passers-by.
