An unprecedented disaster has hit Australia VIDEO for 100 years

The flooding in parts of the Australian state of New South Wales was declared a natural disaster and residents of the affected areas west of Sydney were evacuated overnight, while the country’s most populous state was hit by heavy rains. This was reported by DPA, quoted by BTA.

Sixteen areas of the state of New South Wales have been declared a “disaster zone,” said U.S. Emergency Services Secretary David Elliott.

State Prime Minister Gladys Beredzhiklyan told the media that parts of the northern coast are facing a phenomenon that happens once every 100 years.

Parts of Port Macquarie, 400 km from Sydney, and several nearby towns are flooded.

The city of Tari has been exposed to the worst flooding in its history in 92 years. However, Beredzhiklyan said the biggest concern was in an area including the town of Penrith, where “an event that happens once every 50 years” is expected.
