COURCHEVEL/MÉRIBEL – Switzerland became the most successful country at the 47th Alpine Skiing World Championships.
His representatives won gold three times in Courchevel/Méribel thanks to Marco Odermatt’s victory in the downhill and giant slalom and Jasmine Flury’s triumph in the women’s downhill. The Helvetii also added three silver and one bronze.
According to the total number of medals won, the most successful were the Norwegians, who collected up to nine valuable metals in France (2-3-4). The Swiss won seven medals (3-3-1), just like the Austrians (0-3-4), but for the first time since the 1987 WC in Crans-Montana, they were left without the metal of the most valuable luster.
The last chance to win the title was not used on Sunday by Manuel Feller, who led after the 1st round of the slalom, but fell to seventh place after the second.
The USA (2-2-0), Italy (2-1-1) and Canada (2-0-2) each won four medals at the championship, two were won by the French and the Germans (1-0-1), the first ever medal AJ Ginnis won the slalom for Greece (0-1-0). Slovakia was left without a precious metal at the 2023 WC.
